AUTHOR WEBSITE & SOCIAL

David Stokes

The Brief

A site that still looked like 2008, and a new book on the way.

David’s website had been built years ago and never really looked after. It had stopped moving, and it carried a dated, 2008 look that no longer matched the books it was meant to sell.

David writes Anglo-Saxon historical fiction, and Sermon of the Wolf, the third book in his arc, was due in October 2026. It was time to step up: a site worth visiting, a social presence, and early sign-ups for the book before it landed.

The new site lives at davidstokesauthor.com.

The Work

The whole site, from the ground up.

The site tells David’s story around one idea, novels that don’t invent history, but let it speak. It covers his three-book Anglo-Saxon arc, a journal, talks and events, press, and a waitlist for the new book. The workflow was AI-forward on the code side, with every design decision made by me. There was no template and no page builder, and I built the entire site myself.

  • Website build: designed and built from scratch, with early book sign-ups at the centre of it.
  • SEO: search-ready pages, with titles, sitemap and canonical tags set up for David and his books.
  • Upkeep: timely updates and new announcements, so the site keeps moving.
  • Instagram reels: five edits for his page, telling the stories behind the history.

The Site

Built around one idea, and one sign-up.

The new book sits front and centre, with the waitlist banner directly under the hero.

The Reels

Short-form history for his Instagram.

Five reels I edited for David’s Instagram page, each telling one story from the history behind his books.

The Outcome

30+ sign-ups in the first week.

The site was still in its early days when it passed 30 sign-ups for the book in its first week, and the count was still climbing. For a title with a concept this specific, that is a solid start.

Testimonial

I was able to offer my client a level of service that simply wouldn’t have been possible without his involvement.

One of our most recent collaborations was the campaign for David Stokes’ latest book. Thanks to Ragesh’s capabilities, I was able to offer my client a level of service that simply wouldn’t have been possible without his involvement. The project required a complete redesign and redefinition of the existing website to support the launch of the new book and accommodate the much larger audience we were expecting.
